Dates were a staple of his diet since childhood. Saudi Arabia has the largest date plantation in the world. This date palm garden has been built around 2 lakh palm trees in a row.
Arab News.com reported that the date plantation is located near the city of Buraydah, the capital of Al-Qasim province in central Saudi Arabia. The area of this garden is about 5 thousand 466 hectares. 45 types of dates are produced in this garden. The name of the owner of this garden is Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul Aziz Rajehi. The garden is also named 'Rajehi Bagan' after his name.
By 1990, the plantation was producing wheat and watermelon along with dates. In 1993, under the orders of the garden owner Saleh bin Abdul Aziz Rajehi, wheat and watermelons were moved to other places and kept only for dates and different types of date trees were planted.
It is difficult to find an immandar who has visited the Holy Kaaba and Madinah to perform Umrah during Ramadan but has not enjoyed the dates of this garden. Mainly during Ramadan most dates are supplied to Makkah-Madinah from this garden.
But surprisingly, none of the dates in this world's largest date plantation are for sale. The entire production of this garden has been waqf in the way of Allah.
That is why this garden is also considered as the world's largest 'waqf property'. This garden is also included in the Guinness Book of World.
Statistics show that Saudi Arabia is the first country in the world to produce dates. There are more than two and a half million palm trees in different parts of the country under government and private ownership.
Basically, 360 types of dates are produced in these palm trees. Among them, the country's Medina, Maskani, Mabrum, Saki, Barhi, Shashi, Munifi, Sukari and Azwa dates are very famous dates.
