US threats to buy S-400 missiles did not work: Erdogan

The Dhaka Times Desk America's threats and ultimatums about buying Turkey's S-400 missiles have not worked. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also said that the Russian missile defense system will start arriving in Turkey next month despite the US threats.

This was reported in the news broadcast on Turkish TV channel NTV on Sunday. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that he expects Russian 'S-400' missile defense systems to arrive in Turkey in the first half of next month.

"We have already reached a consensus after discussing the S-400 issue with Russia," Erdogan told reporters on the plane carrying him on his way back from attending a conference in Tajikistan.

He mentioned this time with more certainty than ever when the 'S-400' arrived in Turkey. Erdogan met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the conference in Tajikistan.

Erdoğan also said that he will discuss this with US President Donald Trump at the G-20 conference held this month.
