A few days ago, an auctioneer in Switzerland caught the eye of that bronze vessel. He explains to the family why this pot is priceless. It was then sold at an auction held in Hong Kong for 48 million Swiss francs. In Bangladeshi currency, which stands at more than 41 crore 70 lakh taka.
According to media reports, the container was used to store unplayable tennis balls while staying with the couple in Switzerland. They believed that keeping a broken tennis ball there would bring good things. So he used to arrange it on the table at home. But an auctioneer's eye makes it priceless.
The auctioneer arranged for the vessel to be auctioned on behalf of his firm. Then it was sold for crores. However, the family had auctioned the pot even before this. However, a German museum and an auction house in London were less than enthusiastic about the vessel and returned it.
In a recent auction, the vessel was bought by a company called Caller Auctions. They did not make mistakes like the rest. An official at Collar Auctions said, 'When it was made, there were very few examples of work on bronze in other parts of the world. So it is seen as a very valuable resource.'
