This mosque is located in Hyderabad district of Andhra Pradesh in India. This mosque is considered to be one of the most traditional structures in the old city of Hyderabad, in close proximity to the traditional Chowmahalla, Lad Bazaar and Charmina.
The history of this mosque shows that Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah, who was the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi Empire, played an important role in the construction of this mosque. The main building of this mosque is made of bricks made from clay brought from Mecca, Saudi Arabia, which is the holiest place for Muslims. Hence this mosque is named as "Makkah Mosque". This mosque is located in the heart of the city.
Makkah Masjid was built during the reign of "Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah". who was the 5th ruler of Golkanda (now Hyderabad). The designs of the front arches of the mosque are made of single pieces of granite, which took 5 years to build. 5000 workers participated in the construction of this mosque. It is said that "Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah" personally laid the foundation stone of this mosque. Later "Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb" completed the construction of this mosque after conquering Hyderabad.
