Reportedly, the shoe was designed by the co-founder of the sportswear manufacturing giant. According to a BBC report, this pair of shoes was the last of the 100 pairs of trainers auctioned by Nike. These 100 pairs of shoes auctioned are from various famous companies including New York.
This pair of shoes was sold for three times more than the previous price that these shoes were sold for, not only a record but also the highest price ever. Canadian collector Miles Nadal bought these pairs of shoes. He also bought the remaining 99 pairs of shoes that were auctioned. The price of which is about 8 lakh 50 thousand dollars.
It is known that the pair of shoes called The Nike Waffle Moon Suge was designed by Bill Bowerman. He was a coach and co-founder of Nike. Out of 100 pairs of shoes that are auctioned, only 12 pairs are handmade. Some of these shoes were also handed out at the 1972 Olympics.
'Boerman used waffles on the uppers of his shoes and iron imprints on the bottoms of his shoes,' says Noah Uns, head of global e-commerce at Sotheby's, a New York-based art auction house.
