The Dhaka Times Desk According to a source from Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), illegal mobile phones (handsets) are being stopped from today (Thursday).

Starting today, mobile phones with fake-invalid IMEIs connected to the network will later be disconnected from the network by the National Equipment Identity Registrar (NEIR).
That's why BTRC has instructed buyers to buy mobile phones with IMEI verification and receipt.
To check whether the mobile phone is illegal or fake, one can know whether the IMEI number is stored in the BTRC database or not by typing KYD in the message and sending the 15-digit IMEI number with a space to 1602.
It may be noted that recently a database related to IMEI was established in BTRC by Mobile Importers Association. IMEI information of all legally imported mobile phones is stored there.
It is known that in the case of buying a new mobile, the 15-digit IMEI number written on the packet (*#/, etc. only 15 numbers except special symbols) and in the case of used mobiles, the 15-digit IMEI number obtained by typing *#06# can be found.
