The Dhaka Times Desk The renewed Pak-India tension over Jammu and Kashmir is threatening to create a regional crisis. In such a situation, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said, now is the right time for Trump to mediate in Kashmir.
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that now is the right time for US President Donald Trump to mediate on the Kashmir issue.
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has alleged that Indian security forces used illegal cluster bombs in disputed Kashmir, killing two soldiers and injuring 11 others. A day after the casualty incident, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan sought the mediation of the US President. However, India has completely denied the allegations of using such bombs.
According to media reports, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said in a message on Twitter that the US President Donald Trump has offered to mediate in resolving the Kashmir issue, referring to the large presence of troops in the de facto area of the Pak-India border. New aggression by the Indian occupation forces near the border line and worsening of the situation there make it time to intervene.
Imran Khan said that, 'there is a danger of regional crisis in this situation.' India and Pakistan have been claiming disputed Kashmir as their territory for a long time. Most of the inhabitants of Indian-administered Kashmir are Pakistani Muslims.
India has also accused Pakistan of destabilizing Kashmir by funding armed separatists. Rejecting this accusation of India, Islamabad said that Pakistan only gives diplomatic and moral support to the separatist movement of Kashmiris.
It is to be noted that last July US President Donald Trump said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called him to be a mediator in Kashmir after participating in a conference in Japan. However, Narendra Modi denied Donald Trump's comments stating that he did not make any such call.
Meanwhile, tension has started again in Kashmir since last Friday. Pakistan-based militant groups may launch attacks in Kashmir; The local government has issued a warning in such fear. However, Pakistan has denied the attack. The holy Amarnath pilgrimage of the country's Hindus has already been canceled due to the government warning. Thousands of tourists and pilgrims are leaving Kashmir as panic spreads in the region.
India said on Saturday that five Pakistani militants were killed in an encounter while attempting to attack Indian security forces. However, Pakistan has completely denied this allegation.
