The relationship between India and Pakistan has reached such a bitter level that Pakistan is going to invite former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the exclusion of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi! However, the issue of taking such a decision excluding Modi has become a topic of discussion in international circles as well.
The media reports have confirmed that Pakistan is inviting the former Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, apart from the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi! Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi confirmed to the media that the Congress leader is being invited to the inauguration ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday said that Manmohan Singh was very respectful of Sikhism as the reason for this decision. Moreover, he is a very respectable personality in Pakistan. Considering these, it has been decided to invite the former Indian Prime Minister.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Mehmood Qureshi also said that the initial decision to inaugurate the Kartarpur Corridor was taken in the presence of the two Prime Ministers of the two eternally hostile countries. However, due to the current bitter relationship, their presence on the same stage is almost a certainty. Due to which the decision to invite Manmohan has been finalized, he said.
According to a report in Indian news media Sangad Pratidin, Manmohan Singh has been invited as the chief guest to inaugurate this very important corridor called Kartarpur. The invitation letter will be officially sent to the senior Congress leader very soon – the decision was taken after a long discussion.
It should be noted that Kartarpur Corridor is located on the border of India, where the Darbar Sahib, the shrine of the Sikhs of Pakistan, is located. Thousands of Sikhs from both countries come to pray there every year. Because it is said that Guru Nanak of the Sikhs spent the last 18 years of his life in this Kartarpur.
