The Dhaka Times Desk It is reported that 13 people have been killed in 8 districts affected by Cyclone Bulbul. This loss of life occurred in Cyclone Bulbul's rampage after it struck in the early hours of November 10 till the last news.
On the other hand, trees in the coastal areas have cut off road connectivity and the power system has also broken down, leaving those areas in darkness. At least a million homes were destroyed. According to media reports, 50,000 houses have been destroyed by nightingales in Satkhira alone.
The deceased include 2 in Khulna, 2 in Pirojpur, 1 in Barishal, 2 in Patuakhali, 1 in Barguna, 2 in Bagerhat, 1 in Shariatpur, 1 in Gopalganj and 1 in Madaripur.
However, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman said in a press conference that 2 people were killed and 30 people were injured in Cyclone Bulbul's rampage. He said that initially 4 to 5 thousand raw houses were damaged.
Bagerhat
2 people, including a child and a woman, died in Rampal and Fakirhat upazilas of Bagerhat due to Cyclone Bulbul's rampage. The deceased include Samia Khatun (15), a teenager from Ujalkur village in Rampal upazila and Hira Begum (25), a housewife from Chakuli village in Fakirhat upazila. Deputy Commissioner of Bagerhat. Khulna
A woman named Promila Mondal (52) was crushed by a tree and killed in coastal Dakop upazila of Khulna due to Cyclone Bulbul. The incident took place in South Dakop around 10 am on Sunday. It is known that the deceased is Pramila Subhas Mandal's wife. Also, a young man named Alamgir Hossain (35) was crushed to death by a tree in Senhati village in Dighlia upazila of Khulna.
Pirojpur
According to media sources, 2 people were killed in Pirojpur due to Cyclone Bulbul. In which an old man named Nani Gopal Mandal (65) was killed when a tree fell on a residential house in Nazirpur district. In another place, 2 more children named Sumi Akhter (8) and Nasir (16) were seriously injured due to the same reason. Moreover, a child drowned in Bhandaria upazila.
Barisal
In Barisal, an old lady named Asalata Majumder (65) was killed when a tree fell on her house in the storm of Cyclone Bulbul. The incident took place in the South Madarshi area of Ward No. 1 of Barisal's Wazirpur Municipality around 2.30 pm on Sunday.
Patuakhali
An old man named Hamed Fakir (65) of North Rampura village of Mirzaganj in Patuakhali was killed due to Cyclone Bulbul. On the other hand, an old woman named Rizia Begum (65) died in the Cyclone Shelter of East Dhankhali Government Primary School of Kalapara Upazila of the district.
Barguna
An old lady named Halima Khatun (65) died after coming to the DN College shelter of Barguna Sadar Upazila. Halima Khatun's house is in Banai village of Sadar upazila.
Gopalganj
In Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj, hundreds of houses were destroyed by Cyclone Bulbul. Thousands of trees were uprooted in the district. An old man named Sekel Howladar (70) was killed when a tree fell during the storm. The house of the dead old Hawladar is in Bandhabari village of the upazila.
Madaripur
A woman named Saleha Begum (40) died after being buried under the almirah kept inside the house in Madaripur due to the effect of Cyclone Bulbul. Deceased Saleha Begum is the wife of Azid Khan of Ghatmazhi village of Sadar Upazila.
Shariatpur
In Shariatpur's Naria upazila, the trees fell in the storm Bulbul's fury. An old man named Alibox Chayal (68) was killed. The incident took place in Deojuri area of Dingamanik union of the upazila around 2.30 pm on Sunday.
