The Dhaka Times Desk The mountain that is illuminated by the first light of the Holy Qur'an revealed by Allah Ta'ala is Jabale Noor. The cave of the mountain in which the beloved Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to meditate for his gain.
The hill that is known worldwide as Gare Hera or Hera Guha. There is no end of people's interest to know about Jabale Noor or Gare Hera or Hera Cave. The cave in Jabal Noor where Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to meditate. It was not easy to get there then. There was no easy way up. At present it takes more than 1 hour for strong and fit people to climb. One has to rest several times to climb to the top of the mountain after traversing the grueling route of about 1000 feet. From the plain to the top of the hill, about 200 feet to 250 feet can be reached by car. From there the Hera cave is located at a height of 890 feet. Another 100 feet of road is required to reach Hera Cave. Going to the Hera cave, which is located a little lower on the opposite side of the top of the Kenona hill, is quite a risky affair. Hera cave is not on the highest peak of the mountain but to get there you have to climb the highest peak of the mountain. There is no other alternative route to Hera cave except climbing up there. The cave in which our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) meditated was very small in size. Where a fit person finds it difficult to move properly. Jabale Noor
Hera Hill is a hill located 2 miles away from Holy Kaaba Sharif. Although the name of the mountain is Hera, it is now known globally as Jabale Noor or Jabale Hira. Jabale Nur means mountain of light or light.
Because it was on this mountain that the first blessed and enlightened Al-Quran was revealed to Rasulullah, may God bless him and grant him peace. Which is not only the Muslim Ummah but also the light for the world humanity. That is why this mountain is known as Jabale Noor worldwide.
Location and Extent of Hera Caves
Hera Cave is so small and the space between it is so small that it seems surprising at first sight. In this place, Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam was engaged in meditation. Which is 4 meters long and 1.5 and a half meters on the side. It is also difficult to stand properly at its height. Although the entire mountain is about a thousand feet high from the plain.
The first Quran was revealed
Allah Almighty revealed the Holy Quran in 610 AD in Hera cave near the top of this mountain. Although before this, the beloved Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to see many true dreams which were actually equivalent to visions.
Jibreel Alaihis Salam met for the first time
Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) first appeared with the revelation of the Qur'an while he was engrossed in Hera's cave on this mountain. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrated:
'One night during Tahajjud, an angel in the form of a human came to the beloved Prophet and told Rasulullah, may God bless him and grant him peace, to read. In reply, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, I do not know how to read. Still the angel asked him to read twice more, both times he said dear Prophet I do not know how to read.
Finally, the angel Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) recited the first 5 verses of Surah 96 of the Quran. This was the first revelation to the Beloved Prophet in the cave of Hera. He began thus-
اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ
خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ
الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ
عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
Beginning of Prophethood
This is the historical cave known as Jabale Noor. From where this revelation was the first auspicious beginning of the difficult life of fulfilling the prophetic duties of the beloved Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. Because when he came halfway down the mountain from Hera Cave with Ohi, a voice came to his ears - 'O Muhammad! You are the Prophet of Allah and I am Gabriel.' He appeared on earth as a prophet. He is Allah the Greatest and the Last Prophet and Messenger.
Hard night in Hera Hills
The night when Jibreel (peace be upon him) first came to the Cave of Hera, was a difficult night for the beloved Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). That night until Hazrat Jibreel alaihis salam bid farewell, wherever the beloved Prophet looked, he saw Hazrat Jibreel alaihis salam standing in front of him from all directions. He was scared by this. It was while coming down from there that Jibril introduced himself with his prophetic identity. Then the beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned to his house from the cave of Hera and said to Hazrat Khadija Radiyallahu Anha that, cover me with a blanket and hug me. For 22 years 5 months 14 days after the revelation of the first revelation of the Quran from Hera cave, the entire Quran was revealed to the beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam as a constitution for the entire human race.
