Last Thursday, a university student died in a fire caused by an AC explosion in the capital's Badda. So it is very important for everyone to be aware about AC explosion.
Professor Alok Kumar Majumdar of Mechanical Engineering Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology said that there are 3/4 reasons behind AC accidents.
'Many do not use AC in proportion to room load. Due to which the AC needs to run for a long time, the AC also gets overheated. If you buy low-quality ACs, they may not have proper fan, wiring, electrical systems inside them. Due to which there are also technical errors, which can sometimes lead to fire. He also said, 'Another major cause of AC accidents is lack of maintenance. That's why the AC can catch fire due to technical errors or AC gas can catch fire and it can spread quickly in the house.
Many times it is seen that if the window or door curtain comes in front of the window AC, the air movement can be obstructed. He thinks that can also make the AC hot.
Sandeep Biswas, Principal Engineer, Research and Development (R&D), Walton AC, has given important advice on the causes of AC explosions and how to avoid them. It is highlighted for the readers.
Causes of AC explosion:
If there is dirt in the condenser of # AC, high temperature and high pressure are created in the compressor.
# due to not using correct spec power cable.
# AC internal pipe blockage or high pressure may cause compressor blast.
If the refrigerant is charged more than the limit of the # compressor and if the refrigerant is not charged in a proper manner, accidents may also occur due to the formation of high pressure.
If the # compressor does not have the required amount of refrigerant due to the internal temperature rising above the limit.
# due to AC not vacuuming properly.
# due to not using circuit breaker of correct rating.
Here are some ways to avoid AC explosion:
Condenser of # AC should be kept clean regularly.

# compressor should be checked for high temperature and high pressure build up.
# should check if there is any blockage in the inner pipe of the AC.
Have the # compressor have the required amount of refrigerant checked by an experienced technician.
