The election of Dhaka North and South City Corporation has started today (Saturday) morning. Voting for this election is going on peacefully. However, in some centers there has been disorder. Voter turnout was low in many centers in the morning. However, at 10:30 in the morning in Bhashantech area of the capital, it can be seen that voting is going on quite spontaneously in some centers. People are voting in line.

The campaign ended at 12 pm on Thursday. Voting has started today. The Election Commission (EC) has already completed all the preparations. Voting equipment was delivered to the center yesterday (Friday) for the polling of Dhaka North and South City Corporation.

EC officials have already said that a total of 67 observers including representatives of 7 countries and the European Union (EU) will monitor Dhaka City elections. Among them are 27 people from the United States, 12 people from Britain, 6 people from Switzerland, 5 people from Japan, 6 people from the Netherlands, 2 people from Denmark, 4 people from Norway and 5 people from the European Union.

In addition, 1 thousand 13 observers from 22 organizations of the country registered with the Election Commission will observe this year's city elections. Among them, there will be 503 observers in Dhaka North City Corporation and 457 observers in Dhaka South City Corporation. Centrally monitoring will be done by 53 observers.

Today (February 1) polling will continue continuously in the two cities from 8 am to 4 pm. In the city elections, mayoral candidates are running on party symbols and councilor candidates are running on individual symbols. This time, for the first time, votes are being accepted through EVMs in all the centers of the two cities of Dhaka. A total of 757 candidates are contesting in this election. Among them, 13 candidates for the post of mayor, 744 candidates for the post of councilor.
