How Valentine's Day came

Almost all of us know the origin story of Valentine's Day. Yet the day in whose name is celebrated worldwide every year, cannot be missed on this day of warmth.

Originally, the story of Valentine's Day began with the tyrant Roman Emperor Claudius II and the Christian priest and physician St. Valentine. In the third century, Emperor Claudius ordered all Romans to worship 12 gods and goddesses. At that time preaching Christianity was strictly prohibited. Even associating with Christians was punishable by death!

Saint Valentine was a devotee of Christianity. He never retreated from practicing Christianity for fear of death. So what happened, Emperor Claudius imprisoned him.

On the other hand, in the last weeks of Valentine's life, a magical event happened. The jailer at the prison where he was imprisoned was impressed by Valentine's wisdom. The jailer asks Valentine if his daughter Julia, born blind, can educate her.

Julia could not see at all, but she was very intelligent. Valentine read to Julia the history of Rome and taught her arithmetic. He used to describe nature by mouth and also spoke in detail about God. Julia saw the unseen world through Valentine's eyes. She also believed in Valentine's wisdom, Valentine's image of calm was a source of strength for Julia.

One day Julia asked Valentine-

– অবশ্যই, তিনি সবই শোনেন।
– জানো, রোজ সকাল ও রাতে আমি কী প্রার্থনা করি? প্রার্থনা করি, যদি আমি কখনও দেখতে পেতাম। তোমার মুখ থেকে আমি যা যা দেখেছি তার সবই আামি নিজে দেখতে চাই ভ্যালেন্টাইন।
– আমরা যদি ঈশ্বরকে সত্যিই বিশ্বাস করি তাহলে তিনি আমাদের জন্য যা ভালো তার সবই করেন। ভ্যালেন্টাইন ঠিক এভাবে উত্তর দিলেন।

While praying like this, one day Julia really got her sight back. But the time has come for Valentine. The enraged Claudius set the day for St. Valentine's execution. And that day was February 14, 270 AD.

Valentine wrote a letter to Julia just before his death. At the end of the letter was written, From Your Valentine. Valentine was executed on 14 February and buried in what is now the Church of Proxides in Rome.

It is said that Julia also planted an almond tree full of pink flowers near Valentine's grave. Since then the almond tree has become a symbol of enduring love and friendship.

Later, in 496, Pope Gelasius I proclaimed February 14 as Valentine's Day. Currently, worldwide Valentine's Day is an exchange of love, affection and love between different relationships apart from lovers. So here's wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day.
