After traveling and admiring buildings around the subcontinent, especially in Calcutta, a local businessman named Yasin Mirza decided to build a mosque in his native Raipur. The groundbreaking took place in 1924 and 1931. It took 6 years to complete.
Yasin Mirza hired architects and builders from British Raj cities like Kolkata and Delhi. The main architect of this mosque was Majin Astagar. Descendant of one of the architects of the Taj Mahal. During this period Mu'min lived in Dakla.
