Iran calls for an end to violence against Muslims in India

According to Indian Express and Hindustan Times news, Iran's Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said in a tweet on Monday that India should soon control this violent situation through necessary legal measures and bring back a peaceful situation. After Iran's comments on India's internal affairs, the Indian Foreign Ministry summoned the Iranian ambassador to India, Ali Chegheni, the very next day.

47 people have lost their lives so far in this violence in Delhi. About 350 more people were injured. Muslim victims of the violence said that members of the extremist Hindutva BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak attacked, vandalized and set arson in front of the police. The police also allegedly vandalized the houses of Muslims in several places.

A video circulating on social media shows an injured Muslim man being beaten and forced to sing the Indian national anthem by policemen. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not yet made a statement despite the worldwide condemnation of the violence in Delhi.

Last day (Monday) both houses of the country's Parliament became heated about this violence in Delhi. Opposition leaders also demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah for failing to control the violence in Delhi. Even in the lower house of the Parliament, the BJP MPs clashed with the opposition party MPs. The Speaker finally announced the adjournment of the Parliament session to deal with the situation.
