The view you are seeing is the view of Mai Saheba Jame Masjid. It is a 250 year old historical mosque. About 9 thousand people can pray together in this mosque.

It is known that after entering Sherpur district town, the first traditional Mai Saheba Jame Masjid (Mai Saheba Jame Masjid) will come to your attention. Built approximately 250 years ago, this mosque has been renovated several times, but the imprint of tradition can be clearly seen in it. The two towering minarets of the Maisaheb Masjid located on the southern side of Sherpur Government College, the heart of Sherpur city, will be visible from different parts of the city.

There is a story about the naming of this Maisaheba Jame Masjid. At that time Tinani zamindar of Sherpur invited the zamindar of Muktagacha. The zamindar of Muktagacha wanted some land in Sherpur as his boon. The zamindar of Sherpur decided to give the site of the mosque to the zamindar of Muktagacha and also ordered the demolition of the existing rent-collecting house with elephants. However, as soon as he went near the house with the elephant, the elephant sat down with salam. Hearing this, Tinani zamindar himself came and found a woman inside this room engaged in worship. The zamindar realizes his mistake and goes back apologizing. That woman's name was Mai Saheba. After Mai Saheba's death, the zamindar built a mosque here and named it Mai Saheba Jame Masjid.

The 3-storey Mai Saheba Jame Masjid is currently fully air-conditioned. About 9,000 worshipers can pray together in the mosque. Every Friday, besides Sherpur city, thousands of Muslims from surrounding areas come to pray in this mosque. Maisaheb Jame Masjid is also known as the highest donation receiving mosque in Mymensingh Division. It is known that people of other religions besides Muslims regularly donate here.
