The Dhaka Times Desk Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett says scientists at the country's main microbiology institute have made 'significant progress' in developing antibodies to the novel coronavirus.
After completing the first phase of antibody development, the researchers have also started the process of patenting and mass-producing this potential treatment for corona.
Bennett recently visited Israel's premier Institute of Microbial Research (IIBR), which is run by the country's Prime Minister's Office. He said that this laboratory of the country, located in the area of Ness Ziona, has been given the responsibility of making the corona vaccine.
A statement from the Israeli Defense Minister's office said, this time the minister was shown to have antibodies to the corona virus; Which exclusively fights and inactivates the virus in the patient's body.
The statement further said, 'The work of making antibodies has been completed and the institute is working on the process of patenting this research work. In the next step, the researchers will also approach international organizations for the commercial production of this antibody.
Naftali Bennett also said, I am proud of the staff of our institute for this great success. Their creativity and Jewish mind brought about this wonderful success.
Last March, the Israeli daily Haaretz reported, citing medical sources in the country, that scientists at the institute have made important progress in understanding the biological processes and properties of the virus, enabling treatment, producing antibodies in the infected body and developing a vaccine.
It is not yet clear whether the March progress was brought up to Bennett or the new initiative to develop the antibody. No details have been given in this regard. However, nothing has been specifically reported whether this antibody has been used experimentally in Corona.
The Israel Institute of Biological Research (IIBR) was established in 1952 as part of the Israel Defense Forces Science Corporation. Later this institute was converted into a civilian organization. Although this institution is managed directly under the supervision of the Prime Minister's Office of the country, it has close contact with the Ministry of Defence.
On February 1, the country's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the IIBR to develop a corona vaccine. In March, the country's defense ministry denied the progress made by Israeli scientists on the corona virus, saying in old fashion that it would be informed if anything like this happened.
The Israel Institute of Microbiology is one of the world's leading research institutes. At present, at least 50 experienced researchers and scientists of this institution are working continuously for the development of corona vaccine.
In Israel, 16 thousand 268 people have been infected with corona virus and 237 people have died. However, 10 thousand 223 patients have already recovered.
Note that in December last year, this deadly virus spread from China to different countries of the world. In more than 212 countries and regions of the world, 2 lakh 52 thousand 759 people have died and 36 lakh 64 thousand 571 people have been infected.
