Application of corona vaccine in the monkey body: 100% success in the experiment!

Recently, Chinese researchers have achieved 100% success by applying a newly invented vaccine to monkeys.

Beijing-based firm Sinovac Biote developed the vaccine, called Pikovac. It follows conventional antiviral processes. When applied to an animal's body, antibodies are produced, which help destroy the virus.

In a report published in Science magazine on March 6, Chinese researchers have recently applied the new vaccine to a group of monkeys of the rhesus macaque species. Three weeks later, the monkeys were exposed to the coronavirus.

After a week, the monkeys that received the higher dose of the vaccine had no presence of corona in their lungs, meaning that the vaccine was able to prevent the virus. Monkeys that were not vaccinated were infected with the corona virus and also developed symptoms of pneumonia. Pikovac's trial on humans also began in mid-April.

Pikovac is not the only hope against Corona. Another almost identical vaccine was developed by the Chinese military following the same process. It has already entered the second phase of human trials.

However, Chinese researchers may face a problem in developing a vaccine. The country has already reduced the number of corona infections, there are currently only a few hundred patients. That is why it will be difficult to find volunteers for the experimental application of the vaccine in the human body within a few days. That is why the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) virus vaccine was discontinued in 2003.
