Journalist Kamal Lohani passed away

The Dhaka Times Desk Cultural personality and journalist Kamal Lohani passed away due to Corona (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun). He died in a private hospital after 10 am on Saturday. He was 86 years old at the time of his death.

He was under treatment at the Intensive Care Center (ICU) of Sheikh Russell Gastroliver Institute and Hospital in Mohakhali of the capital due to corona virus (Covid-19). Apart from lung and kidney complications, he also suffered from heart disease and diabetes.

The President condoled the death of Kamal Lohani. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Kamal Lohani's physical condition deteriorated and he was admitted to Health and Hope Hospital on the morning of June 17. Kamal Lohani tested positive for Covid-19 after receiving the results of the Covid test yesterday. In this situation, first an attempt was made to take Kamal Lohani to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH). But there is no seat available
On May 18, he was admitted to Health and Hope Hospital in Panthpath of the capital. After being treated there for some time, he was taken home on June 2 when he recovered somewhat. Later, when the condition worsened again, he had to be admitted to the hospital.

It is to be noted that Kamal Lohani started journalism with daily Millat newspaper. Then served in important positions in Dainik Azad, Sangbad, Purbadesh, Dainik Barta. Kamal Lohani also served as the President of Dhaka Journalists Union.

Kamal Lohani, advisor to the Udichi Shilpi Group, the Khatak-Dalal Nirmul Committee of the 1970s, and the Collective Cultural Alliance, served as Director General of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy for two terms. This talented personality served as the president of Udichi Shilpi Group and as the editor of Chayanot. He was one of the founders of Kranti Shilpi group.
