In that law, it is said that the residents have to register their residence. As a result of which many fear, the central government of the country is trying to bring about demographic change.
According to an article quoted by The New Arab, local authorities have so far registered 25,000 residences under the new law. Those who are able to register can get permanent residence. They can also apply for government jobs.
According to the new law, only those who have been constructing homesteads in Kashmir for more than 15 years will be allowed to register. Through this registration they will also be considered as legal citizens by the Government of India.
According to experts, this law will push Kashmiris away from special rights and deprive them of civic benefits.
Kashmiri political analyst Professor Sheikh Shaukat Hussain said that the Kashmiri people are now in a state of panic. The reason is that they feel that they may become homeless in their own area. The new law that has been promulgated will also allow people from other parts of India to purchase land here. You can also live here permanently. Through this, the minority Muslims will be cornered. Kashmir is going to be another Palestine!
The new authorities that were formed after the state was stripped of its previous status, have taken a stricter stance on the implementation of this law. Locals are being threatened that they will be fined Rs 50,000 if they do not register their houses within the specified time.
Indian researcher Faizan Bhatt said this law will further perpetuate foreigners in Kashmir. This will also lead to demographic changes in the region. Currently, the whole world is busy dealing with the corona virus epidemic. The victims think that the Indian government has chosen this opportune time to humiliate the Kashmiris.
