The Dhaka Times Desk Oryx Bio-Tech will invest three hundred million dollars in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City. Oryx Bio-Tech Limited will work on biotechnology in 'Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City' at Kaliakore.
For this purpose, 25 acres of land was allotted to the institution in Block-2. It is reported that they will invest 300 million US dollars in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City. A tripartite agreement was also signed yesterday (August 11) in the auditorium of ICT Tower in Agargaon. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak was present as the chief guest at the signing ceremony under the chairmanship of Senior Secretary of ICT Department NM Ziaul Alam.
If this project is implemented, there will be foreign investment of 300 million dollars in Bangladesh. The presentation said that the country will go a long way in bio-technology with the creation of high-paying employment of about 2000 people, which will contribute significantly to the implementation of Vision-2021. Currently in the developed world (especially USA, Europe, Japan, China) bio-technology is widely used. Basically bio-tech products are produced from human plasma. These bio-tech drugs are currently being used to treat HIV AIDS and cancer. Oryx Bio-Tech Limited will construct a 1200 tonne per annum plasma analysis plant at Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City with 20 plasma collection stations attached. The company has also promised to maintain the standards of other developed worlds including the World Health Organization. Through this, bio-tech products will be more easily available in the market of Bangladesh.
State Minister of Information and Communication Technology Department, Junaid Ahmed Palak, Chief Guest of the program said, 'Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City' located in Kaliakore is the first and largest hi-tech park in the country. In 2014, ICT Advisor Sajib Wazed visited this park on site and took various effective steps for the development of the park. 37 companies have already been allotted space in the 'Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City' established on 355 acres of land. Already 5 companies have started production there. The companies will also work in high-tech areas such as mobile phone assembling and manufacturing, optical cables, hardware, software, data-center etc. in this park. 327 crores of rupees have already been invested and about 13000 people have been employed. By 2025, we expect to invest 24 billion rupees in hi-tech parks. He gave a Power Point presentation on the investment potential and opportunities in the Hi-Tech Park.
Speaking on the occasion, Summit Group Chairman Muhammad Aziz Khan said, “We are truly delighted to welcome Oryx to set up the country's first bio-tech industry at Summit Technopolis. Setting up a plasma fractionation plant must have been an important step when this investment was contemplated in the pre-Covid scenario. Its significance as a potential treatment for the corona virus is now unfolding in many ways.
