The Dhaka Times Desk To travel to India-Bangladesh for any reason including medical, business or travel, the passport travelers of both countries have to accept 3 new conditions from now on. Only then passport holders can get permission to enter both the countries.
Just as Bangladeshis go to India for medical, business and travel, Indians also come to Bangladesh for business, travel and visiting relatives.
India and Bangladesh, two friendly countries, had no obstacles in the movement of citizens. But now the situation is different. Due to Corona, even though the travel between the two countries is free, the citizens have to accept some conditions.
It has been informed by the Benapole Checkpost Immigration that if you want to go to both countries for any reason, medical, business or travel, everyone will have to accept some conditions from now on. Benapole Checkpost Immigration OC Mahasin Kabir confirmed the condition on Friday morning.
The new conditions include that Bangladeshi passport holders must have valid passports and visas issued on July 1, 2020 to visit India. Along with this permission letter from the Indian High-Commission will also be required. Along with this, the passenger should have a negative certificate of Covid-19. And that certificate should be within 72 hours and enter India. Only then any Bangladeshi passport holder will get permission to enter India.
Indian passport travelers are also required to have an up-to-date passport, visa along with permission letter from Indian Ministry of Home Affairs and negative certificate of Kovid-19 for entry into Bangladesh. That certificate should also be within 72 hours and enter Bangladesh with it. After that, Indian passport holders will get permission to enter Bangladesh.
Many passengers with Indian passports are stuck in Bangladesh due to the Corona situation. They could not return to the country due to the lockdown. Many have expired visas. There are also some new conditions for their return to the country.
The conditions include valid passport, visa renewal (visa and fees to be paid without penalty), permission letter from Indian High Commission and negative certificate of Kovid-19. That certificate should be within 72 hours and entry into India.
It is to be noted that the governments of the two countries have taken various security measures to prevent the spread of the corona virus in Bangladesh and the neighboring country India. In the meantime, the Indian government has stopped the entry of Bangladeshi passport holders into India from March 13 through Benapole port. Later again due to their ban, the return of Indian citizens staying in Bangladesh was also blocked. Later, hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshi stranded in India returned by land and air. Many Indians also went back by land and air at that time.
