The research report also says that not only has Apple's sales declined in the global smartphone market, but Samsung has far surpassed Apple in terms of sales. Mauston said, "Apple now needs to bring more models to the market at a lower price in order to regain their popularity."

IDC Researcher Ramon L Llamas said, "We expect Apple to launch more of their new models around September or October this year and they will return to their previous position in the smartphone market."
