The Dhaka Times Desk ভাত বা কোনো কিছু খাওয়ার সময় প্রায়ই গলায় আটকে যায় খাবার। এটা নিয়ে আমরা অনেকেই বলে থাকি ‘বিষম খেলে’ প্রিয়জন মনে করছে। তবে আপনি জানেন কী? এভাবে বিষম খেলে মৃত্যুও হতে পারে।
এই বিষয়ে বিশেষজ্ঞরা বলেছেন, গলায় খাবার কিংবা অন্য কিছু আটকে গিয়ে দম বন্ধ হয়ে আসে। বিশ্বজুড়ে শ্বাসনালীতে খাবার আটকে প্রতি বছর কোটি মানুষ ভয়ানক বিপদে পড়ে থাকেন। বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তে প্রতি দু’ঘণ্টায় একজন মানুষ গলায় খাবার কিংবা অন্য কিছু আটকে গিয়ে দম বন্ধ হয়ে মৃত্যুবরণ করেন।
এই বিষয়ে ভারতের মেডিসিনের চিকিৎসক দীপঙ্কর সরকার বলেছেন, আরও ভয়াবহ তথ্য হলো শ্বাসনালীতে কোনো কিছু আটকে গেলে ফুসফুসে অক্সিজেন সরবরাহে বিঘ্ন ঘটে থাকে। যে কারণে নিঃশ্বাসের কষ্ট ও কাশি অবধারিত। শ্বাসনালী একেবারে বন্ধ হয়ে গেলে অক্সিজেন সরবরাহ প্রায় বন্ধ হয়ে গেলে তখন হার্ট ও ব্রেন অক্সিজেনের অভাবে কাজ করতে পারে না। তখন শরীরের অবস্থা অত্যন্ত সংকটজনক হয়ে ওঠে। তাই তাড়াহুড়ো করে খাবার না খেয়ে অবশ্যই ধীরেসুস্থে খাবার খেতে হবে।
কখনও কখনও শুকনো খাবার গলায় আটকে যেতে পারে, এই বিষয়েও সকলকে সতর্ক থাকতে হবে। শ্বাসনালীতে কিছু আটকে গেলে প্রথমেই নিঃশ্বাসের কষ্ট হবে। এই সময় আতঙ্কিত না হয়ে মাথা ঠাণ্ডা রেখে তাকে কাশতে বলতে হবে। একই সময় পিঠ চাপড়ে দিন, এতে করে গলায় আটকানো খাবারের টুকরো বেরিয়েও আসতে পারে।
কথা বলতে না পারা কিংবা এমন কয়েকটা লক্ষণ দেখলে দ্রুত প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসার জন্যে অবশ্যই দ্রুততম সময়ের মধ্যে হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যেতে হবে।
