Khashoggi murder case verdict announced

The Dhaka Times Desk Saudi Arabia's public prosecution has charged eight people with the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The judgment against them was announced yesterday Monday (September 7).

In the verdict, 5 people were sentenced to 20 years in prison for their involvement in the murder. The remaining three killers were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 7 to 10 years.

Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was brutally murdered at the Saudi Embassy in Istanbul on October 2, 2018. After the assassination, Khashoggi's body was dismembered. Burned with acid. Almost 2 years after the murder, his body has not been found yet. Media reports have repeatedly suggested that he was killed on the orders of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

It should be noted that journalist Jamal Khashoggi was once known as a close friend of the Saudi royal family. Criticizing the Saudi monarchy was too late for him. That is why he was brutally killed.
