The Dhaka Times Desk The court sentenced 6 people, including Minni, to death in the controversial Rifat Sharif murder case of Barguna. Today (Wednesday) Barguna District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Asaduzzaman's court announced this verdict.
The accused sentenced to death are Rakibul Hasan Rifat Farazi, Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, Al Qayoum alias Rabbi Akon, Rezwan Ali Khan Hriday, Md Hasan and Ayesha Siddika Minni.
On the other hand, those acquitted in the case are - Md. Musa (22), Md. Sagar (19), Rafiul Islam Rabbi (20) and Kamrul Hasan Saymun (21).
The accused were brought to the court at 11:40 this morning amid tight security. At 1:20 p.m., the judge of Barguna District Sessions Judge's Court announced the verdict. Ayesha Siddika Minni who was on bail and 8 accused who were in jail were present at this time. The court decided the verdict of this murder case within 1 year 3 months 3 days.
It is to be noted that on the morning of June 26, 2019, Rifat Sharif was brutally hacked to death by Kishore Gang Bond forces in front of Barguna Government College. When a video of that murder was spread on social media, the matter of this murder came up for discussion in the whole country. After the judicial proceedings of the case, the court fixed the verdict date today (September 30).
The morning of June 26 last year started like any other morning. But a murder in front of Barguna Government College shook the whole country. Kishor gang bond force openly hacks Rifat Sharif and seriously injures him. Rifat Sharif died in Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital that afternoon while under treatment. The day after the incident on June 27, Rifat's father said. Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif filed a murder case naming 12 persons as plaintiff and 5-6 others unknown.
Six days after the attack on Rifat, Sabbir Ahmed Nayan alias Nayan Bond, the main accused in this case, was killed in a shootout with the police on the morning of July 2.
