As India's renowned doctors sit in these places, the region is gradually becoming a medical tourism destination due to the state-of-the-art equipment and quality of medical services. Bangladeshis and foreign tourists also started coming here, who came to get treatment for various physical ailments. Residential hotels and lodges have also been built around the medical center. Food stalls and fruit stalls were growing by leaps and bounds. The number of auto rickshaws or general public transport for local communication was increasing.
Businesses are active here mainly for Bangladeshi medical service seekers. At present, it is under a big threat due to the covid situation, local businessmen are unanimous.
According to a private information, every month there is a business of hundreds of crores of rupees in the medical tourism that has been created around the private hospital in Kolkata's Mukundpur area. Most of it comes from Bangladeshi tourists. Which has gone down to zero in the last 6 months.
