The country's Arab News.com reported that the location of this vast garden is located very close to the city of Buraydah, the capital of Al-Qasim province in central Saudi Arabia. The area of this garden is about 5 thousand 466 hectares. This garden produces about 45 species of dates.
The name of the owner of this world's largest palm plantation is Sheikh Saleh Bin Abdul Aziz Rajehi. The garden has been named 'Rajehi Bagan' after his name.
However, in the beginning this garden was not just a palm garden. Around 1990, besides dates, wheat and watermelon were also grown in this garden. In 1993, the wheat and watermelon were removed from here on the orders of Saleh bin Abdul Aziz Rajehi, the owner of the garden. Then different types of palm trees were planted there.
Almost all those who visit the Kaaba and Madinah to perform Umrah during Ramadan also enjoy the dates of this garden. Mainly during Ramadan most dates are supplied to Makkah-Madinah from this date garden.
The most surprising thing is that none of the dates from this world's largest date plantation are sold. The entire production of this garden is waqf in the way of Allah. That is why this garden is also considered as the world's largest 'Waqf property'. This garden has also been included in the Guinness Book of World.
According to a report of Al Arabiya, according to a statistic, Saudi Arabia is the first in the world in the production of dates. There are more than two and a half million palm trees in different parts of the country under government and private ownership. About 360 types of dates are produced in these trees. Among which the country's Medina, Maskani, Mabrum, Barhi, Shashi, Saki, Munifi, Sukari and Azwa dates are very famous dates.
It should be noted that previously, Al Ahsa was included in the list of the United Nations Institute of Science and Culture. It was also recognized as the tourism capital of the Arab world in 2019. Also in 2015, the garden was declared part of the UNESCO World Heritage in Folk Arts and Crafts.
