Zheng Yongnian, dean of the Shenzhen-based think tank 'Advanced Institute of Global and Contemporary China Studies' and an adviser to the country's government, expressed this fear to the South China Morning Post. The Indian media NDTV has given this news citing a Chinese news.
Aiming at Joe Biden, Zheng Yongnian said, 'He is definitely a very weak president. If he fails to solve the country's internal problems, he will do something on the diplomatic front. Do something against China. Donald Trump is not interested in democracy and freedom, but he is not interested in war. But Biden is quite the opposite. So a Democrat president can start a war'.
Zheng Yongnian warned that China must give up the illusion that US-China relations will improve under President Joe Biden. But Beijing must also be prepared for Washington's tough stance.
He also said that one can never hope for better days. The US-China cold war that has been brewing for the past few years will not disappear overnight. The Chinese government should also take every opportunity to improve relations with the US government.
