The 201 Dome Mosque of Bangladesh is going to become the center of attraction for the people of the whole world. This mosque is built on the banks of Jhenai River in Tangail, 140 km from the capital Dhaka.
The 451 feet high concrete minar has been named as the tallest minar in the world by Guinness World. A height of 451 feet is normally equal to the height of a 55 story building. No building of such height has been built in Bangladesh so far.
In this mosque, 15,000 Muslims can pray simultaneously, but due to the crowd, the authorities have planned to increase it to 30,000.
Among the 201 domes, the tallest dome is 79 feet. The height of others is 42 feet. The construction of this mosque started in January 2013. The construction of the mosque was completed in 5 long years. 130 crore rupees have been spent on the construction of this mosque.
Rafiqul Islam of Dakshin Pathalia village of Gopalpur in Tangail dreamed of building this mosque complex project in his native place. And so he formed the Rafiqul Islam Trust.
Rafiqul Islam donated some of his ancestral property to this trust to fulfill his dream. Villagers also help to realize his dream. Finally, in 2013, the construction work of this mosque complex started on 5 acres of land. Currently its area stands at 15 acres.
