The Dhaka Times Desk The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Affairs of Saudi Arabia officially launched the smart card to serve the Hajj pilgrims during the trial period of Hajj during the corona epidemic.
This program was inaugurated on December 27. According to a report in the Saudi Gazette, each member performing Hajj will be given a smart card. Through this, pilgrims can verify personal information and receive medical and civic services.
Through the smart card, the pilgrims will get urgent directions in moving to different places of the Holy Land. Moreover, through the card, pilgrims who come in irregular ways can also be identified.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Affairs participated in the 2020 Makkah Cultural Forum with the smart card initiative. This smart card system has been launched as a special initiative of Makkah Cultural Forum.
This smart card is said to be managed through Near Field Communication (NFC). Through this, devices under short-range NFC also connect with each other with the help of wireless communication technology.
Moreover, the smart card can be read through various sites installed in the holy places of Hajj. In this way, information about the pilgrims will also be known.
The smart card is a part of the initiatives taken in Vision 2030 announced by the Saudi government. Through the implementation of this initiative, the success of using technology in providing services to pilgrims has been proved.
Note that this smart card will be activated during Hajj held in 2021. However, it was also piloted during the limited Hajj held during the Corona pandemic. The card will be managed through one center to provide all types of services.
