The mosque you see is a 469 year old historical Samajshahi mosque. It is located in Chatmohar Upazila of Pabna.
In 1552 AD, during the reign of Sultan Samir or Selim Shur, the son of Emperor Shershah, the 469-year-old 'Samajshahi Mosque' is located in Samaj village of Chatmohar Upazila of Pabna district.
The Samaj Shahi Mosque, located 10 km from Chatmohar Police Station along the Karatoa River, was reconstructed in 1980 under the supervision of the Bangladesh Department of Archeology after being abandoned for a long time.
This historic mosque was rebuilt once by the Government of India in 1942 before the partition of the country. At that time, the reconstruction work was completed keeping the original structure of the mosque intact, but the antiquity of the mosque has disappeared to a large extent.
The length of this mosque of 30 cubits height is 34 cubits, width is 15 cubits. The total number of domes is 3. Underneath the large domes, there are beautiful works of art.
Two black granite pillars on the porch of the mosque bear witness to the ancient architectural tradition. There are many beautiful designs on the surrounding walls. Which can easily attract the attention of visitors. The mosque has 3 main doors and an arch.
During the reconstruction of this mosque in 1942, two inscriptions from this mosque were also transferred to the Indian Museum. There are two inscriptions, one on the mehrab and two on the southern wall. One script was inscribed with the date of construction of the mosque and the other was inscribed with Surah Mulk.
