Dhaka Times Report. Traffic jams in the capital have become a daily occurrence. Citizens of the capital have to waste time in traffic for hours after leaving their homes. This situation is going on day after day, year after year, but it seems that no one can do anything.
The distance from Farmgate to Motijheel should not take more than 15 to 20 minutes but now it takes 1 hour or sometimes two or more. Thus the distance from Mohakhali to Farmgate which should take 10 minutes. But in reality it can be seen that sometimes it takes 1 hour to reach Farmgate from Mohakhali. Thus the distance from Farmgate to Gabtali should take only 20 to 30 minutes. But it takes from 1 hour to go from Farmgate to Gabtali and sometimes one and a half hours or more. In this way, there is traffic jam all day in every area of the capital Dhaka. If Motijheel can be dispatched from Mohammadpur then it will take one and a half to two hours or sometimes more. But it would take 30 minutes or more to go from Mohammadpur to Motijheel if there was no traffic.
What is the government doing to solve the traffic jam?
There are always government initiatives to ease traffic congestion. The government has completely banned rickshaws on major or VIP roads to ease traffic congestion. Where car parking is prohibited. Prohibits 'U' turn at any place. Signaling system made more efficient. Increased the number of traffic police. But in reality, it can be seen that the people are getting any success? No, in reality, the people do not get any results. Because you have to leave for work in the morning at least 2/3 hours before. It takes 2/3 hours to return home from office. Think about how much time people have at night except for sleep. If 5/6 hours are consumed by the traffic jam, then people have some other daily tasks apart from sleep and food, when will they be solved?
Introduction of flyovers
To ease traffic congestion, the government has constructed a flyover at Mahakhali in Khirgaon. It remains to be seen how effective these are in reducing traffic congestion. The flyover that has been constructed at Mahakhali is only for one direction due to which it is not playing a very effective role. However, the work of some other flyovers is currently underway and it is believed that they will play a good role. Firstly, construction of a flyover over the cantonment to connect Airport Uttara with Mirpur is progressing. Once this is completed, the road connectivity from Mirpur area to Airport-North will be very easy. On the other hand, the work of flyover from Khilkhet towards Saidabad is also progressing at a fast pace. Also, a flyover is being constructed to cross the railway line at the staff road rail crossing in the cantonment area via Banani to go to the airport. Basically, if they are completed, there will be some improvement in the communication system of the capital.
Cars are increasing but roads are not
At the same rate as the number of cars are increasing, there is no improvement in the roads in the capital. That's why it's getting worse as the days go by. If this situation continues, after the next 5 or 10 years, you will have to walk out of your house to work in the capital. After the independence of the country, the condition of roads in the entire country has improved a lot. Despite the radical changes in the communication system across the country, there has been no improvement in the capital. Because in the villages where earlier people had to move with bullock carts in the mud flats, there are now paved roads. There are now motor vehicles, rickshaw-vans or vats plying there. However, even after 40 years of independence, the development that is supposed to happen in the capital of a country has not happened. Rather, the situation is going on day by day in which foreign guests often feel ashamed when they come. During the World Cup, an ICC delegation had to face such an embarrassing situation due to a traffic jam while visiting a venue in Narayanganj.

We don't want to be ashamed. We don't want to waste hours in traffic jams. We think that capital should be made a beautiful city by taking proper planning. Where there will be no traffic jams, no piles of garbage. We want to see and show the title of a clean and happy prosperous state.
