About 5 km west of Bagerhat district is Ranbijaipur village with a domed Ranbijaipur Mosque. It is a historical mosque.
Among the largest mosques with one dome in Bangladesh, this mosque is also known as Dariya Khan Mosque to the locals. Ranbijaipur Mosque is located just one and a half kilometers from Bagerhat's Sixty Dome Mosque to the east. It is believed that in 1459, during the reign of Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali, Dariya Khan, a companion of Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali, built the Ranbijaipur Mosque.
Ranbijaipur Mosque with thick brick walls has an area of 56 square feet on the outside and 36 square feet on the inside and the walls of the mosque are about 10 feet wide. There are 3 mehrabs on the west side of the mosque and 3 doors each on the wall on the other 3 sides. Among the 3 arches with floral designs, the main arch in the middle is relatively larger.
The curved cornice mosque also has 4 round minarets built in Khan Jahani architecture. The only dome of Ranbijaipur Mosque is quite interesting to see. Also, the terracotta decoration of the mosque walls is particularly noteworthy. The Bangladesh Directorate of Archeology declared the Ranbijaipur Mosque as a protected antiquities in 1961.
