First Muslim to be nominated as a federal judge in the United States

The Dhaka Times Desk US President Joe Biden has nominated several black women, an Asian American and, for the first time, a Muslim, as federal judges.

There are currently no black women among the 9 justices on the United States Supreme Court. Biden initially nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson. He is African-American.

President Joe Biden is the first Muslim to be nominated as a federal judge. The name of that judge is Zahid Koraishi (45). He is of Pakistani origin. He currently serves as a magistrate judge in New Jersey.

President Joe Biden said in a statement, 'This nomination collectively represents a great diversity of experiences and perspectives that will strengthen our nation.'

It should be noted that according to the constitution, these people nominated by the president will serve for life on the Supreme and Federal Courts. However, these nominations of the President must be approved by the Senate.
