In a BBC report, Pushpika de Silva won the title of Mrs. Sri Lanka. The event was broadcast on a private TV channel of the country on April 4.

From the video, shortly after the crowning, one of the judges of the pageant, Miss Sri Lanka 2019 Caroline, claimed that; Pushpika is not eligible for the award. Because he is divorced.

The organizers apologized to him. He was later given back the title of winner within a day.

De Silva said in a Facebook post that he also suffered a head injury in the incident. He had to go to the hospital for treatment. Ms de Silva also said she would take legal action against the 'unreasonable and humiliating' treatment she received.

Note that 'Mrs Sri Lanka World Beauty Pageant' is one of the country's beauty pageants. The wife of the prime minister of the country was present as the chief guest at the final ceremony of the competition.
