The shape of the original Padma Bridge has been accurately reproduced through various crafts with clay, bamboo and cement. Which has shocked the people of the area. People who have not seen the original Padma Setu are satisfied by seeing this mini Padma Setu made by him. A large number of visitors throng his house in Sutipara area of Dhamrai every day from morning to evening to see the bridge.
Going to the house of Sohag Ahmed, a 10th class student of Vallum Ataur Rahman Khan School and College of that area, it is seen that this mini Padma bridge has been made with cement coating on bamboo and clay structure in the empty space next to the house. Apart from the original Padma Bridge, there are many things in this dummy bridge including railway lines, lampposts.
The artificial Padma river has been dug out from the ground. There is also a check post at one end with a flower plant in the middle of the two lanes. This Padma Bridge in Sohag becomes more beautiful when the lampposts light up at night.
In this regard, school student Sohag Ahmed told the media, 'From the first day the span of the Padma Bridge was laid, I have been dreaming of building such a bridge myself. With that aim in 2019, I first started to build this bridge, but I could not sustain it. At that time I made it with clay, so it broke in the rain water.
I started construction of the bridge again on November 1 of last year. After 5 long months, on March 26 this year, the construction of my Padma Bridge was completed. But this time I have plastered it with cement on the ground. So that the soil of the bridge does not melt like the previous time.'
An excited Sohag also said, 'Apart from studies and homework, I am working on the construction of this Padma Bridge. I am very happy to be able to make it after so many days of hard work. Many people are coming to see my bridge. Whoever is watching is also praising.'
Sohag's father Sultan Ali said, 'When Sohag first started building this bridge, I used to scold him a lot thinking that it would disturb his education, I used to scold him and tell him what to do without his studies! Now many people are coming from far and wide to see the Padma Bridge built by Sohag and appreciate it. It really fills me with pride. Everyone pray for my son that he grows up to be a good engineer.'
Rezaul Karim, chairman of the local Sutipara union, said, 'I myself have gone and seen the mini Padma bridge. His work is very beautiful. Every day people from different places come to see the bridge. So we locals are really proud of Sohag.'
