Armanitola chemical godown fire: 4 dead so far

The Dhaka Times Desk 4 deaths have been reported so far in the chemical godown on the ground floor of a 6-storey building in Armanitola, Dhaka, the capital. At least 21 others fell ill due to burns and smoke. Out of which 20 people are admitted in burn unit of DMK.

3 of the dead have been identified. They are market gatekeeper Russell, Russell's cousin another gatekeeper Waliullah Bepari (70) and fourth floor resident Sumaiya. She is a third year student of Eden Women's College.

A fire broke out in the chemical godown on the ground floor of the building named Haji Musa Mansion in Armanitola at 3:18 pm today (Friday).

After receiving the news of this fire, 19 teams of fire service managed to put out the fire after a few hours.

It is known that the building that caught fire is called Haji Musa Mansion. Electricity was cut off in the area for rescue work. The building is still surrounded by police. Fire service and police are conducting search there. Meanwhile, 21 injured people were admitted to Dhaka Medical's Sheikh Hasina Burn Unit. 1 of them left with first aid. Out of the remaining 20, 4 have been kept in the ICU as their condition is critical. The remaining 16 are undergoing treatment in the burn unit. However, the authorities there said that no one's condition is free of suspicion.
