The Dhaka Times Desk Walton Digi-Tech Industries Limited, the country's top technology product manufacturer, has been bringing one after the other state-of-the-art products to the country's customers. Now they are bringing e-bike!
Electric bikes or scooters are at the top of the list of upcoming new products of this subsidiary of Walton Group.
Using this bike will cost only 10-15 paisa per kilometer. Walton's e-bikes have already generated a lot of enthusiasm among customers. Customers are eagerly waiting for the bike to hit the market.
It is known that the brand name of this new category of products is TAKYON. Which will be marketed as Takion, even with Walton's logo attached. Initially two models of e-bikes will be launched in the market. Tachyon 1.00 and Tachyon 1.20. The price of both the bikes is yet to be decided. However, it has been reported that e-bikes will be marketed at affordable prices according to the purchasing power of domestic buyers.
Tachyon Electric Bike Product Manager Kaykobad Siddiqui said about this new e-bike, the Tachyon 1.00 model has a powerful 1.2 kW hub motor with an attractive design. New technology graphene lead acid battery is used in it. Once fully charged the bike can go 60-70 km. The maximum speed of the bike will be 50 km per hour.
On the other hand, the Tachyon 1.20 model uses the motor of the world's top motor manufacturer BOSCH. Its portable lithium battery weighs only 9 kg. Which is very portable. The bike will run up to 50-60 km on a single charge. The maximum speed will be 45 km per hour. The Tachyon E-Bike has a portable charger. It is possible to charge the bike from the 220 volt electrical line used in the house. The performance of the bike is equivalent to 100 cc bike. Both models get dual hydraulic disc brakes, tubeless tyres, LCD speedometer and LED lighting.
At present there is no substitute for bikes to facilitate public transportation. Due to heavy traffic especially in urban areas, two-wheeler or bike is the first choice of youth. However, due to the additional cost, many people cannot afford to buy conventional petrol-powered bikes and use them regularly. Therefore, this project has been started with the aim of providing low cost motor vehicles to the customers.
This Takion e-bike can travel 50-60 km on a single charge. Currently, the market price of one liter of octane is 89 taka. With which a 100 cc bike can cover a maximum distance of 50 to 60 km. On the other hand, it will cost only 7/8 rupees to cover the same distance on Takion e-bike. That means it will cost only 10 to 15 paisa per kilometer.
Apart from that, Takion E-Bike will not require regular maintenance cost like conventional petrol powered bikes. On the one hand, as it is cost effective, on the other hand, the harmful effects of environmental pollution will be freed from the use of electricity as an alternative to oil. That's why both the bikes are eco-friendly.
Due to the lack of specific policies of the Bangladesh government regarding the registration of electric vehicles, several companies have marketed this category of vehicles in the past year but could not gain the trust of customers.
However, in the gazette published in 2020, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has formulated the policy for registration of electric vehicles. That's why Walton is confident that there will be no complications or doubts in the registration of Tachyon electric bikes. Takion Electric Bikes also have free after sales service facility for up to 2 years from designated service points.
