Bangladeshi scientist got international recognition in animal medicine

The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladeshi scientist Salma Sultana received international recognition in animal medicine. Salma Sultana is one of the three Bangladeshi women who have made it to the list of Asia's top 100 scientists in scientific research.

According to a BBC Bangla news, Bangladeshi scientist Salma Sultana has been given this recognition for playing a role in the spread of animal medicine education. This list of 100 scientists was recently published in the Singapore-based science magazine Asian Scientist.

Scientist Salma Sultana is an agronomist. He mainly works with farmers and small farmers and has also developed a veterinary hospital with a laboratory for diagnosing animal diseases. While studying at university, he saw that there was a void in veterinary medicine in the country. That is why he is more motivated to work on this subject.

In this regard Salma Sultana told the British media BBC Bangla, we have veterinarians in our country. However, there are not enough assistants or veterinary nurses for them. While working at the field level, I saw that there was no one who could help me even a little. Doctors cannot do everything. Our laboratory also has many limitations. Then it seemed that there is a great job opportunity here.

Salma Sultana also said that there has been a lot of progress in the agricultural sector in our country. But farmers are still not using modern technology in cattle farming. Moreover, they also lack general knowledge on this subject.

In this regard, he also said that the environment of the cowshed where the cows are kept is not very good. Many people do not know that the roof of a cowshed should be 14 to 18 feet high. They don't even have enough knowledge about first aid for cattle. They are not getting any assistance in this regard, due to which their production is suffering a lot.

Earlier, cow farmers used to mix water with husk and feed the cows. Cows were also fed with rice. Barley was cooked and fed. However, these foods are very harmful for the cow's stomach. They have no knowledge about this. We told them you feed cows dry food.

Salma Sultana also said, you see good rice at 60 to 70 taka per kg, but how much fish per kg. But the price of one kg of beef is 500 to 550 taka. Because of which it can be a very profitable business for them. But due to lack of knowledge they are not able to achieve it.

Salma Sultana said, many sick cows are being slaughtered in our country. He may be receiving treatment. Slaughter is also being done in this situation. Due to which the ingredients of the medicine remain in his body. We are eating that meat. Due to which our health is also facing a threat. Farmers are currently trying to find out a lot. They are on YouTube. When a farmer sees that the production of milk has increased many times than before, he will naturally be interested in using modern technology.
