Hindus in India made Hafez of the Quran the village head!

However, a unique precedent has been set in Ayodhya of Uttar Pradesh. Now the Hindus there made Hafez of the Quran the head of the village!

This time a Muslim candidate has won from Rajanpur village in Ayodhya in Panchayat elections. The residents of the Hindu majority village elected Hafez Azim Uddin, a Quranist, as their village head.

Interestingly, Hafiz Azim Uddin's family is the only Muslim family in Rajanpur village. Still, Hafeez Azim Uddin defeated several candidates in this contested election. Azim Uddin is a resident of Mabai block of Rajanpur village of Rudauli parliamentary constituency in Ayodhya.

The results of this election show that people still exercise their right to vote regardless of caste and religion. This village has now become the center of discussion. It has emerged as a shining example of brotherhood.

Hafeez Azim Uddin told Indian media, 'The love and support of the villagers gave me the strength to file the nomination papers. Finally I won. Communal harmony has always prevailed in our village. We villagers are all members of one big family. There are 3 temples in our village. I came to know that the villagers have prayed to God for my victory and many have fasted. Their love for me was so great that they ate water and food only after my victory.

'My father was also the village head here a decade ago. My two brothers are now out and another teacher,' said Azim Uddin.

He also said that all festivals are celebrated with equal enthusiasm in this village. I want to thank the villagers and assure them that they will still see the development they expect.

However, the formation of Gram Panchayats and the swearing in of the newly elected Chiefs and Area Panchayat members have been postponed for the time being due to the spread of the Corona virus.
