Historic Shahi Mosque of Chatmohar

The mosque you see is the historical Shahi Mosque of Chatmohar. Chatmohar Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Bangladesh.

It is located about 200 yards from Chatmohar Upazila of Pabna district. According to history, long ago Chatmohar was one of the trading centers of Pabna. At that time there was also free movement of Mughals and Pathans.

In 1581 AD, Emperor Akbar's general Masum Khan Kabli built a mosque at this place. This is today's Chatmohar Shahi Mosque. But in the pages of various books it is mentioned as Masum Kabli Masjid. This mosque also had a Persian inscription carved in Tughra script. But currently this inscription is kept in Rajshahi Barendra Museum. This red jafri brick built mosque has three domes.
