Italy is England's opponent in the dream final of the European Championship

The Dhaka Times Desk England reached the final of the European Championship for the first time. Three Lions will play the final of a major tournament after 55 years. They beat Denmark in a thrilling second semi-final.

Harry Kane has been dreaming of a final at home for a long time. In the final of that dream, Gareth Southgate's disciples will face Italy, who are unbeaten in 33 consecutive matches.

England beat Denmark 2-1 at Wembley Stadium in London on Wednesday (July 7) night. Denmark scored an own goal shortly after Mikael Damsgaard's great free kick took the lead. Harry Kane made the difference in extra time.

Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling squandered a golden opportunity in the 38th minute. Kasper Smeikal stopped the Manchester City midfielder's short shot from the face of the 6-yard box after receiving Harry Kane's pass. In the next minute, the English equalized due to the opponent's mistakes and a bit of luck.

Kane's great through ball was picked up by Bukayo Saka from the byline to head home a cross for Sterling. Danish captain Simon Kayer scored a suicide goal while trying to stop it.

In the 6th minute of the second half, Kasper Dolbird's low shot from outside the D-box was bounced away by Pickford. After 4 minutes, Smeikel was able to equalize by stopping Harry Maguire's head in the same way. He returned Mason Mount's cross and corner in the 73rd minute.

That's why the scores of both teams are equal in the scheduled 90 minutes. Neither team could create any chances in this half. It was the first time since 2000 that both semi-finals of the Euro went to extra time. Italy reached the final by defeating Spain in the first semi-final in a tiebreaker.
