Fakir Alamgir on life support

The Dhaka Times Desk A medical board is being formed for the treatment of mass musician Fakir Alamgir, who is on life support due to the deadly corona virus.

His son Mashuk Alamgir Rajib said that a medical board will be formed by the expert doctors of United Hospital on Monday (July 19) morning.

Previously, yesterday Sunday (July 18) at around 10 o'clock at night, the doctors decided to put him on ventilation when his physical condition worsened.

Rajeev said that when the father's oxygen saturation dropped to 45, the doctors advised him to take ventilation. Oxygen saturation increased to 90 after ventilation.

On July 14, Fakir Alamgir was diagnosed with corona virus infection. A day later on July 15, he was admitted to the hospital when he developed fever and difficulty in breathing. He is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of United Hospital in the capital. Fakir Alamgir's lungs are 60 percent infected.

It should be noted that during the liberation war in 1971, Fakir Alamgir was the artist of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra. Before that, he also contributed immensely in the 1969 mass uprising as a member of Kranti Shilpi group and Gana Shilpi group. Fakir Alamgir joined the pop genre after independence. He was honored with the Ekushey Padak in 1999 for his contribution to music.
