MA Mannan took oath as Gazipur City Mayor

The Dhaka Times Desk BNP supported professor mayor MA Mannan took oath as the first mayor of the newly formed Gazipur City Corporation.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina administered their oath at the Prime Minister's office on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, Local Government Minister Syed Ashraful Islam administered the oath to the elected councilors and reserved women councilors in Gazipur City.

Mannan is scheduled to meet the party chairperson tonight.
It is said that he will visit the shrine of party founder Ziaur Rahman on Monday.

It should be noted that the mayoral election of this newly formed city corporation was held on July 6. BNP-backed candidate MA Mannan was elected mayor by a huge margin defeating the nearest rival Awami League-backed candidate Advocate Azmatullah Khan.
