The Dhaka Times Desk Jamaat-e-Islami strike tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. It is feared that there may be a massive covert attack in front of this hartar.
Several court verdicts have gone against the Jamaat in the past few months. However, this time the court canceled the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami. Because of this, even if this party is a political party, they cannot participate in the national elections with the party symbol. Due to which there is a lot of anger towards their government. Even though the program was delayed due to fasting, now their destructive attitude is being noticed. Before the verdict was announced, the Jamaat had announced that if the verdict went against them, they would call a continuous hartal. And for this reason, political analysts fear that there is a possibility of widespread violence in Jamaat's hartal.
Sources of the online newspaper said that Jamaat is being organized with the preparation of death bite to sustain its existence. For this purpose, the leaders and workers of the party have taken positions in different areas. Jamaat-Shibir can carry out major sabotage across the country based on the two-day hartal. A secret attack may be carried out. This is what various intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies fear. However, the Jamaat-Shibir leaders and workers are being monitored. This information has been revealed by police and intelligence sources.
Jamaat has called hartal tomorrow Tuesday and Wednesday. Before the hartal, they have caused some incidents in different parts of the country. Recently, the police have arrested several Shibir cadres including Jamaat emirs in Kishoreganj and Gazipur. By interrogating them, information about sabotage was obtained. According to RAB police intelligence sources based on that information, Jamaat-Shibir has a plan of major sabotage based on the hartal. Camp cadres in particular are prone to sabotage. As always, they decided to attack the police as well as target the vehicles. They can block the road with barricades in district towns. Apart from this, the sleeper of the railway line will be raised and disrupt the train movement. Cadres from one area will go to another area and attack in disguise to prevent arrest by the law and order forces. They will stay in the madrasa along with the mess and the house. However, the law and order forces are on high alert to prevent any kind of vandalism. Operations have been started to arrest Jamaat-Shibir leaders and workers at various places since yesterday. Before the strike, the police, RAB and detectives are preparing to launch a major operation against them, the online newspaper said.
It is learned that special security measures have been taken from the police headquarters to keep the situation under control. Important buildings, bus stands, railway stations and launch ghats have been kept under intelligence surveillance. Besides, possible hideouts and suspicious homes, messes are being raided.
RAB DG Mokhleshur Rahman said that those who sabotage the strike will not be exempted. On behalf of RAB, three-level security measures were taken in Dhaka even before Eid. It will remain in force even during the strike. Besides, efforts are being made to control the law and order situation of the whole country.
It should be noted that Jamaat started the movement from November last year around the trial of crimes against humanity in 1971. They called the first hartal during the current government's tenure on December 4. Then they started giving various programs. However, this anti-independence organization often carries out unlimited violence. The Jamaat-Shibir cadres also beat up members of law and order forces at various times. They set fire to police outposts in Dhaka and Gaibandha. Many policemen were killed in their attacks across the country. Police weapons were confiscated at various places. A police officer's head was beaten by camp cadres in Rajshahi. On February 28, they staged massive riots in several districts over the death sentence of the party's Naib Amir Delawar Hossain Saeedee. The Jamaat held a four-day hartal in the month of Ramzan to protest against the verdict of the trial of former Jamaat Amir Ghulam Azam and Party Secretary General Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid. On August 1, the High Court ruled that the registration of Jamaat was illegal. After that Jamaat-Shibir started blocking roads and vandalizing cars in different parts of the country. On that day hartal was called on 12 and 13 August. Later the strike dates were changed to August 13 and 14.
