About 20 percent of Samsung's global workforce -- more than 65,000 -- is engaged in research and development (R&D). The R&D campus has a multi-storied library, where designers and other staff can thoughtfully practice their ideas in close proximity to numerous books and magazines; You can find inspiration if you want.
Digital City also has a Samsung Sound Lab. It includes various music tools and a voice booth where the voice of Samsung's virtual assistant Bixby is recorded. Many of Samsung's home appliance brands are also manufactured here; For example, the noise that occurs after a smartphone is plugged into an electrical outlet; Or the sound a refrigerator makes after leaving the door open for too long. The sprawling campus has a 4,100-seat cafeteria where employees can eat for free. Every day it serves 72,000 people from about 92 different menus. Food ingredients are collected by Samsung from the surrounding areas of Suwon. As a result, Samsung has also developed a strong bond with farmers and other producers in the region. Also, the campus has international food and beverage outlets like Dunkin' Donuts.
Every week, Samsung organizes various programs, including concerts, fashion shows and talk shows. There are 690 cultural clubs to entertain employees, ranging from Korean folk art to paragliding and cooking clubs.
