The Dhaka Times Desk Today is the fourth death anniversary of legendary actor Nayakraj Razzak. On August 21, 2017, he left the world at the age of 75, leaving fans and well-wishers in tears.
Nayak Raj Razzak was born on January 23, 1942 in a Muslim family in South Kolkata, India. In the 60s, he came to the Bangladeshi film industry by acting in a supporting role in director Salauddin's movie 'Tero Nompur Pheku Ostagar Lane'. Although this actor made his film debut before that. He was associated with Kolkata theater.
In 1959, Razzak studied and received a diploma in cinema from Filmalaya, Mumbai, India, with an unquenchable dream of becoming a hero. Then returned to Kolkata and acted in 'Shilalipi' and one more movie. In 1964, due to communal riots in Kolkata, Razzak was forced to move to Dhaka with his family.
Even after coming to Dhaka, he sticks to his dream. Started working as an assistant director. Razzak worked as an assistant to director Kamal Ahmed in the movie 'Ujala'. Then, shortly after acting in director Salahuddin's film, director Zaheer Raihan offered Razzak the role of Lakhinder in his 'Behula'. Through this, Razzak was first introduced as a hero in Bangladesh.
Razzak created a huge stir by acting as the hero opposite Suchanda in the movie 'Behula'. After that, the moviegoers of this country were impressed by his performance in one movie after another.
Razzak's notable movies include 'Neel Aakash Aye', 'Mainamati', 'Madhu Milon', 'Pitch Dhala Path', 'Je Agune Puri', 'Jiwan To Neya', 'Ki Je Kari', 'Abujh Man', 'Rangbaaz', 'Unbelievable', 'Procession of Light', 'Eternal Love', 'Illiterate', 'Badi to Begum' etc. Razzak acted as hero in about 300 movies.
Razzak-Suchanda, Razzak-Kabri and Razzak-Babita and Razzak-Shabana movies as protagonists created a stir in the hearts of the audience. Which at one time earned Razzaq the title Nayakraj of Dhaliwood. Ahmed Zaman Chowdhury, editor of Bengali film magazine 'Chitrali' gave him this title. He has also received several National Film Awards in recognition of his work.
On the occasion of Nayakraj's death anniversary, the initiative of Bangladesh Film Directors Association, Producers Distributors Association and Artists Association organized Quran Khatam and Doa at FDC. Apart from this, the program of visiting Nayakraj's grave and offering wreaths at Banani has also been taken up by various organizations. On behalf of his family, prayers and recitation of the Quran were organized at Lakshmikunj in Gulshan.
