But after the capture of Kabul, the Taliban held a press conference and announced that they would not return to the regime of 1996-2001. কিন্তু পরবর্তীতে তালেবানরা তাদের বক্তব্য থেকে পিছিয়ে আসে। তারা এখন বিদেশী সরকারের দোভাষীদের বাড়ী বাড়ী গিয়ে খোঁজছে। আফগান সরকারের একজন পুলিশ কর্মকর্তাকে নির্মমভাবে হত্যার দৃশ্য ছড়িয়ে পড়ায় নাগরিকদের মাঝে ভীতি বেড়ে গেছে। বাড়ী বাড়ী গিয়ে তাদের আত্মীয় স্বজনদের ধরে নিয়ে হত্যা করছে। শহরের মেয়েদের দিয়ে রান্না করিয়ে নিচ্ছে তারা। কোন নারীর রান্না খারাপ হলে তাকে হত্যা করে প্রতিশোধ নিচ্ছে। আতংকিত ও উৎকন্ঠিত অনেক পরিবারে গিয়ে বিয়ের প্রস্তাব পাঠাচ্ছে তালেবান যোদ্ধারা। পাত্রী হিসাবে দশ থেকে পনের বছরের মেয়েদেরই তাদের বেশি পছন্দের। কোন মেয়ের পরিবার আপত্তি জানালে জোরপূর্বক তাদের তুলে নিয়ে এসে বিয়ের পিঁড়িতে বসতে বাধ্য করছে । কাবুল শহরে এমন ঘটনা এখন ছড়াছড়ি। জালালাবাদের একটি ব্যাংক থেকে সারাদিনের কাজ শেষে বাড়ী অভিমুখি দু’জন নারী কর্মকর্তাকে হত্যা করেছে তালেবান যোদ্ধারা। শহরের একটি শিশু পার্কে কিছু ভাস্কর্য রয়েছে। তালেবান যোদ্ধারা সেখানে গিয়ে ভাস্কর্য দেখে রাগান্বিত হয়ে ওঠে। পরে মনের জানালা মেটাতে পার্কটিতে আগুন ধরিয়ে দেয়। একে একে সকল ভাস্কর্য ভেঙ্গে ফেলে। এই অবস্থায় শহরের অনেক মানুষ আর নিজেদের নিরাপদ মনে করছে না। বাসায় বাসায় যোদ্ধারা হানা দিচ্ছে তাতে আতংকিত হয়ে পড়েছে সাধারণ শান্তিপ্রিয় মানুষ। এই অবস্থায় অনেক মানুষই রয়েছে যারা দেশ ছেড়ে অন্য দেশে চলে যাওয়াটা নিরাপদ মনে করছে। সেই উদ্দেশ্যে বিমান বন্দরে মানুষের ঢল নামে। প্রথমের দিকে তালেবানরা তাদের কোন বাঁধা সৃষ্টি করেনি। কিন্তু এখন তারা নতুন ভাবে বাঁধা সৃষ্ঠি করা শুরু করেছে। গেল ১৯ আগষ্ট বিমানবন্দরগামী বেশ কিছু জনতাকে গ্রেফতার করে অন্য জায়গায় নিয়ে যায়। এ ঘটনা নিমিষেই সাংবাদিকদের কানে পৌঁছে। তাদের মাধ্যমেই ঘটনাটি সারা বিশ্বে ছড়িয়ে পড়ে।

The UK has already said it will not recognize the Taliban government. The interest shown by Russia, China, Pakistan, Türkiye has waned. The US has also refused to return money stashed in the Taliban's Federal Reserve Bank.

Meanwhile, the Haqqani network has been entrusted with the security of the capital, Kabul. The Haqqani network of suicide groups was formed two decades ago under the leadership of the most wanted Sirajuddin Haqqani in the mountainous areas bordering Pakistan. The group is loyal to Mullah Omar's leadership and is an integral part of the Taliban. The Haqqani network is rumored to have secret ties to Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda.

As a result, it is very difficult for the West, including the United States, to accept the Haqqani network. The role of Western countries including the United States is behind the rapid rise to power of the Taliban government. But the Taliban don't seem to be taking their interests into account.
