According to a report, Ashraf Ghani's son and daughter live in separate houses in the United States. His daughter Miriam lives in a luxurious house in Brooklyn. On the other hand, his son Tariq Ghani lives in Washington DC with his wife in another luxurious house. Tariq Ghani is a professor of economics at Washington University in St. Louis.
When Ashraf Ghani was contacted about this, he did not want to talk to the journalists, it is said in the report. The report claimed that he was later seen having tea with a female friend. He is currently based in United Arab Emirates.
When the Taliban surrounded Kabul, the newly deposed President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, tried to escape from there and go to Tajikistan. Not finding shelter there, he turned the plane around and reached Oman. From there he took refuge in the United Arab Emirates.
A Russian diplomat claimed that Ashraf Ghani took four cars full of cash with him when he fled Afghanistan. However, Ghani dismissed this allegation as baseless. He said he left the country in one piece when the Taliban surrounded Kabul.
Ashraf Ghani was a US citizen for a long time. Ashraf Ghani renounced that citizenship before becoming the President of Afghanistan in 2014. However, his wife and two children are US citizens.
